Hoi An among world’s best places to finish the year with sunshine

The Hanoitimes - There are plenty of places to escape the cold UK weather where you can enjoy sunshine and warm temperatures instead of frost and cool winds.

Hoi An ancient town in Quang Nam province has been named among the best places to finish the year with some sun, according to inews.co.uk, a British newspaper owned and published by Johnston Press.

According to the British newspaper, Hoi An has everything, including heritage architecture, a superb food scene and a string of perfect beaches. An Bang, about 5km (an easy bike ride) from the centre, is the one to go for. Recover from a hard day at the beach with dinner – as a historical trading town, there are Chinese, Japanese and Portuguese influences on the food.
Hurghada (Egypt) tops the list, followed by La Gomera, Fez (Morocco), Jamaica, Cape Verde, Bali (Indonesia), Durban, Madeira, Singapore, Trancoso (Brazil), Salalah (Oman), Goa (India), San Diego (California), etc.
Earlier, Hoi An in Vietnam has been ranked 5th among the 10 cheapest destinations for a long-haul holiday with a basket of 10 items costing the equivalent of US$98 on average.
The survey is based on data from the Post Office's annual Long Haul Holiday Report, which compared average prices for food, drinks and other common purchases in 34 destinations.
In 2017, Hoi An received 3.2 million tourists, a year-on-year increase of 21.66%, according to Quang Nam province's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The 3.22 million visitors included 1.78 million foreigners and 1.44 million domestic ones. As many as 2.38 million tourists visited Hoi An Ancient Town, up 28.16%, and 400,000 ones went to Cu Lao Cham Island.
