Vietnam and South Korea established diplomatic ties on December 22, 1992. The two countries set up their comprehensive partnership in August 2001, and agreed to lift ties to a strategic cooperative partnership in October 2009.
Traditional Korean foods are becoming increasingly popular amongst Vietnamese people, namely kimchi, kimbab, bulgogi, cold noodle soup, and noodles with black bean sauce. Korean fashion is also holding sway among the youth.
Especially, this year’s festival, Hanoians will be be treated to the star performances of famous K-pop singer, including Haha, Skull, Byul, Jeebanoff, Zizo, M. Tyson, Maasung.
The first festival of this kind was held in 2008 and ten years later, the turnout has reached about 100,000 people.
Last year’s event was among the activities in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and South Korea. The festival welcomed over 150,000 visitors. All proceeds from the event were donated to the underprivileged people in Vietnam. The event featured various traditional Korean foods, performances, games and a prize lottery. Nearly 100 food courts from restaurants in Hanoi and shops from entrepreneurs introduced their specialties.
